This is a photo of Neil Armstrong being the first man to step on the moon. This was a huge moment for the United States! We finally won the space race in getting the first human to the moon. This led to our scientists being able to run tests to truly know about the life or lack of life on the moon. Which gave us the knowledge and proof we were looking for. People being able to see this photograph when first taken gave Americans something to celebrate and be excited for. All that information can be found just from this photo, and it’s not like there are any words on the photo, but this changed the knowledge that the United States had about the moon.

This story is told in a mug shot. The photograph is Rosa Parks after she was arrested for refusing to give up her seat on the bus. Parks doing this has affected the way we live our lives today. She stood up for herself, which is something no one was doing. But this gave others the courage they need to stand up for themselves instead of just sitting on the quiet. This resulted in a big civil rights movement. Others got involved and started making things happen. They wanted to be heard, and because of that, today they get to enjoy the same freedoms as everyone else. All Americans now get to live in equality.

This last photo is a photo taken during the bombing of Pearl Harbor. After Japan bombed the United States, we had no choice but to fight back, leading to WWII. We didn’t necessarily want to get in a war, but this gave Americans a reason to fight. The U.S. getting in this war showed that we were a force to be reckon with. It also showed that even after a surprise attack on part of our land, we can bounce back. We came together as a country to fight. We never gave up, which was a big reason we defeated the Japanese, Italians, and Germans during this war. Since our victory, we have become an even bigger and greater force that has power and is ready for anything.

All these photos have very different stories, but they are important stories none the less. Every single one of these events has helped our country grow. But those of us on the younger end of America’s population wouldn’t be able to have the same visual of the actual events without the photographs that are there to tell us these stories. Being able to learn about our history through photographs has changed our history and continues to change it as we continue to advance in our technologies that allow to capture these moments forever.
